That's Better

Today has been a much better day. Had a bit of a lay-in, eventually getting up at about 10am. Is that a normal time to get up on a day off? Set to getting some housework done, sorted out the lounge and gave the kitchen a thorough going over. By that time Emma was coming home for lunch, we're supposed to be cutting back so I cooked us up some chicken soup accompanied by some wholemeal bread. Emma cut her lunch short which kinda suited me as I was hoping to chill out with a walk in the afternoon.

One of my hobbies is something called geocaching, it's a bit of a hitech treasure trail / walk. I set of on one of these today and it's amazing how something so simple can clear the mind and revitalise the soul - a trip into the countryside is definitely a tonic. It filled up my afternoon and I just got back in time to cook dinner, tuna steaks and pasta. Just the evening to savour now, a soak in the bath then snuggle on the sofa in front of the tv.

One of those days...

This post may appear twice as I tried to email it remotely this morning and it hasn't arrived yet.

Yesterday was a strange one. Got up early to grab my wife a coffee & some breakfast before she headed off to college. It's a part-time degree course lasting 3 years, I really admire her commitment because in my heart I know I simply couldn't find the motivation to do everything she does. Not only does she work full time, study part time and be a wonderful friend to anyone that needs her, but also spends a large amount of her time making sure I am well looked after. Bless her cotton socks, sometimes I really don't know why she bothers with me. So off she goes slaving away at college and what do I do? I sit around feeling sorry for myself because I am withdrawing from nicotine. I wasn't going to mention my quit but I feel guilty for not having lifted a finger all day, writing these posts has kept my fingers busy rather than sparking one up.

Anyways I did manage to do a few bits and pieces throughout the day including chasing up where we are at with the house move. It would appear that after 3 weeks of us putting in an offer on our new house their solicitors have still not done a thing, yep diddly squat! Gave the estate agent the good news who said he would tell client how unhappy we are. I shall be checking on him later today to see how he got on.

My wife and I thought the evening had all but come to a close after watching ‘Cellular’ on DVD, but we were proved to be wrong. Just after midnight we heard our neighbours hit our car! We have always felt a little pissed off at them as they have removed the lawn area from the adjoining side of their house to ours and left it as a rubble patch on which they try to park about five vehicles were there should only be two. On top of that, when they have visitors they park across our drive making it impossible for us to come and go as we please without getting shirty with them. So you can imagine the wifes reaction when we heard the crunch in the early hours! I went downstairs and outside in my dressing gown to find her surrounded by about 20 Asian ladies all screaming and shouting. Had to cool things down and say we would sort it out in the morning if need be, before taking Emma back off to bed again. Took us a long time to calm down with a cup of cocco but we eventually got off to sleep at around 2am so excuse me if this reads really shitting today.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading my little rant.

NOOOOOOOOO Sony don't do this to me!

I don't bloody believe it, could this be just another clever marketing tactic from the big boys at Sony - let's hope so

A blogspot I liked

I am very new to this whole Blogging thing so thought I would take a quick look around and see what others are doing. This one appeals to my slightly warped sense of humour Things I hate about my Flatmate

The Rubbish Tip

I have come to the conclusion that the local council's rubbish tip is a haven for people with little sense!

Great big notices on each skip make it quite clear where to put each type of rubbish 'cardboard here', 'gardening waste here' and 'oil here'. Not one person I saw could manage the simple task of putting their stuff in the right container without either being bollocked by the employees or asking for advice.

What is the world coming too when even throwing away your rubbish becomes a mission? Have we all got so used to things being labelled for idiots that we are indeed becoming indiots?

Moving Home

By the time I lay my little mits on a PSP (pre-ordered from http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=PP0001 I should be in a new house! Yep, the wife and I have sold our house STC and have had an offer accepted on a property nearer our family.

We have a tiny chain, our buyer is through a government initiative and is as good as a cash buyer whilst our vendor's house is an inheritance so no upper chain! This leaves us stuck in the middle, waiting to hear from both sets of solicitors. We have been lucky as a friend of our's (I'll call her L) works for a solicitor and has got us a great deal. Not only that but L said she will push our paperwork through super quick.

So what to do whilst waiting for the exchange of contracts? The list appears to be endless but for a start a good clear-out is in order. Today I have been up in the loft sorting through the junk we have accumulated over the last 6 years. I don't know about you but I find it really hard to throw stuff out, even if you know you never likely to use it again! With a lump in my throat I have managed to get together 5 big black bags of stuff that will be going to the rubbish tip in a few minutes, leaving only one bag of goodies for the charity shop.

The wife finishes work soon so I best be getting on with things

Take care fellow blogger

PSP Countdown

Im so excited....My latest craving for technology is for Sony's new baby, the PSP ( Playstation Portable). For the complete specs see http://hardware.gamespot.com/Sony-PSP-11721-S-4-4

This is the machine that could really pose a threat to the grip Nintendo have on the handheld gaming market, if I worked for Nintendo I would be seriously worried about my job security right now. The PSP is being marketed as a handheld game machine but with the ability to play music, movies and link up via WIFI. You can't held but wonder what directions Sony might take with this..watch out iPod maybe?

Some of the games make me feel quite nostalgic, Wipeout & Ridgeracers both started out as early titles for the PS1 and are due to hit the PSP on it's UK release date. I remember being WOWed by these games on the PS1 and can only hope the PSP has the same WOW factor.

Living in the UK means we have to put up with getting new technology some time after our Far East and US friends, although this can have it's advantages as early teething problems can be ironed out before they reach our distant shores. There have already been rumours circulating about dead pixels on some screens. There's also a lot of speculation about the battery life of the unit, but lets face it how many of us are likely to play a portable unit for longer than 4 hours at a time without being able to plug it into a mains socket? ok so there may be the odd individual who jets of on international long haul flights but if thats the nature of your job I am sure it pays well enough to afford a spare battery!

The estimated date for release is the end of March 2005, I can hardly contain myself. Can you?
